Jordan Brand Signs GGG For Upcoming Fight Against Dominic Wade
Gennady Golovkin, popularly known as GGG, will be sponsored by Nike’s Jordan Brand when he enters the ring against Dominic Wade on April 23rd. GGG is the third fighter to be sponsored by Jordan. The other two are Roy Jones Jr. and Andre Ward.
GGG was last seen in a great showing against David Lemieux at New York’s Madison Square Garden. It is anticipated that GGG will fight Canelo Alvarez later this year, with an expiration date of Cinco de Mayo weekend of next year.
“We are excited to add Gennady to the Jordan Brand family,’ said Larry Miller, Jordan Brand President. “Gennady’s work ethic, dedication to his craft and style make him a perfect fit.”
Gennady Golovkin is projected to be one of the next big PPV stars for the sport. Golovkin has learned English and is willing to talk to the American media, unlike Canelo Alvarez who seems to be waiting to be extremely proficient in English before doing any real promotion.
With the superfight against Canelo Alvarez looming it seems that Jordan Brand is going to be getting a head start on the next hopeful great, whose personality has trickled into the casual sports fan mind after knocking out 22 straight fighters and appearing on multiple ESPN shows.
